Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: How do I book my free training place for one of the listed courses?
A: You can either use this site to book, by clicking on NHS Novell Training Schedule on the home page of the website. Select one of the courses you would like to attend, click on the course, this will show you all the dates, locations and how many spaces are available on this course. Click on book, and complete the form, ensuring you tick the box to accept the terms and conditions, then submit. You can also call the enquiries line to book any of the training.
Q2: How long after submitting my request before I receive a response?
A: You should receive a response from the QA-IQ Healthcare team within 48 hours of submitting your form.
Q3: What locations are there for these courses?
A: We offer a selection of course locations throughout the UK. When you view the course this will show the locations that are offered for this course. Should your organisation require alternative locations, please do not hesitate to contact QA-IQ's Healthcare team who may (subject to demand), be able to schedule courses at other QA-IQ training locations
Q4: How can I view the course description & pre-requisites?
A: If you click on the course title when you are in ?course schedule?, this will show you all the information you need to know about the course (pre-requisites, course content etc).
Q5: When do I receive Joining Instructions for the course I am booked on?
A: Normally joining instructions are sent via email, and these will be sent approximately 6 weeks prior to the date of the course or at the point of booking confirmation (which ever is sooner).
Q6: What happens if other people in my trust have taken up the 2 free spaces, and I would still like to attend?
A: You can still attend the course, you can either ask for additional free spaces when completing the order form on-line, this will put you onto a waitlist, and if there are free spaces 2 weeks prior to the course you are then booked on. The other option would be to pay a discounted daily rate of £150 for the course (RRP £295.00 per day).
Q7: If my Trust does not have the solution installed, can I still attend this free training?
A: Yes you can still attend on the basis that your Trust is in the process of signing up to the Enterprise Agreement. Please Note: other people from Trusts who do have the solution installed, are having the solution installed with a ?go live? date, or who are awaiting approval for the solution will become priority over your booking.
Q8: If my hospital is not located within one of the Trusts am I permitted to book onto one of these courses free of charge?
A: You can request this training, and you will be put onto a waitlist, but not free of charge. 2 weeks prior to the course you will be contacted to confirm or cancel your booking. This will be charged at a daily rate of £150.
Q9: What happens with the allocation of free places on courses, for NHS IT Organisations who manage the IT service for multiple Trusts (such as a NHS Shared Service)?
A: If a Shared Service is responsible for the IT services of 5 unique Trust (for example), they will be allocated 2 places per course title for each of the Trusts adopting that solution under the Novell/NHS Connecting for Health contract. In this case the Shared Service will be allocated 10 places per course title on the basis that all 5 Trusts within the Shared Service are implementing the appropriate Novell solution. In booking and confirming course places on this basis, the Authorising Manager from the Shared Service (for example), confirms that he or she is taking the allocation for the individual Trusts and the individual Trusts will not subsequently be eligible for any further allocation under the programme. It is the responsibility of the Shared Service to communicate this to the local Trusts as appropriate.
