Novell Training for the NHS
Background
In December 2005, Novell announced a contract with NHS
Connecting for Health for a comprehensive set of security,
management and infrastructure solutions that will improve
delivery of health services to the NHS in England. The three
year agreement lets the NHS in England leverage Novell®
solutions across the entire NHS infrastructure, comprising
upwards of 600,000 workstations, and will result in substantial
cost savings for the NHS. As a strategic partner, Novell will
help NHS Connecting for Health to deliver the National
Programme for IT, improving patient care and services and
transforming the way the NHS works.
Under the terms of the agreement, the NHS gains enterprise-wide
use of Novell Identity Manager for security and access control
and Novell ZENworks® for managing workstations. The NHS will
also deploy Novell Open Enterprise Server in parts of the
organisation, allowing it to make a seamless transition from
its existing NetWare® services to Linux without needing to
replace existing infrastructure. To standardise technology
deployed across the NHS, NHS Connecting for Health will promote
adoption of specifically designed Novell solution packages
across the entire English NHS IT infrastructure.
Novell will also provide consulting resources to help the NHS
develop strategic solutions to deliver the National Programme
for IT and ensure best practice throughout all NHS divisions.
In addition, Novell will provide NHS staff with extensive
training to ensure the organisation maximises the value of its
Novell technology.
The NHS Novell Training Programme has been designed in
consultation with NHS Connecting for Health and key
stakeholders within a selected group of trusts and QA.
In partnership with QA, Novell are delivering a series of
courses over the next two years providing the NHS with a high
quality, relevant training programme on a Free of Charge basis.
